Field log
Big jobs and quick ones, day or night.
Deep in the sub-basement of an old warehouse, the crew worked late pumping out and cleaning a pit full of oily water.
A high-priority call with the elevator out of service. We cleaned out the pit, pulled the sump pump so maintenance could replace it, and gave the floor a full cleaning.
A truck hauling 7,000 gallons of milk crashed into a culvert and popped its hatch. We took over from the local fire department that night and worked to contain the spill.
After a health department visit, a landlord's attorney called for help. Tenants had been dumping used fluids out the back door for months, affecting the lot, the property next door and several storm drains.
A town's street crew hit an old, leaking fuel tank while tearing down a house. The public works director called Alan directly, notified the state and contained it until we arrived to dig it out.
A stainless tote of 65 to 70% nitric acid fell off a forklift at a plant up north. The local hazmat team contained it, then we took over the cleanup with Willow Creek Environmental.
Planned for the end of May, the customer asked us to start the next Monday, and we did. We worked around steel that couldn't be moved, hit an old 8-inch drain that wasn't on the blueprints, and hauled out more than 40 dumpsters.
Alan designed a new style of filter to strip PFOS out of a creek, then rigged trail cameras to send rain alerts and show flows in real time. For a few dollars a day it protects everything downstream.
Earlier work

Field report, Northern Indiana, August to September 2026
After a tragic farm accident, a small volunteer fire department called us in for help. The site had no access at all, so we built a road in first. We put the fire out, separated the burning corn from the good corn, took the bin down and hauled the grain away. When it was done, Alan walked the fire department through a post-incident review of what went well and what we all learned.
Worked alongside Argos Fire Department, Willow Creek Environmental and Payne Brothers.
